The four-star superior Hotel Porta do Sol was built in 1993, completely renovated in 2010 and expanded in 2017. Comprising 106 rooms with balcony and seven fabulous 52 m2 suites, equipped with a jacuzzi, it has a panoramic view of Foz of the Minho River and Monte de Santa Tecla. Get to know in detail all the features of this hotel unit, in an interview.

What is the concept of this four-star unit?

About a ten-minute walk from the village of Caminha or the beautiful beach of Moledo, the hotel is ideal for those looking to relax in the Alto Minho area, where there is no shortage of places of environmental and cultural interest to discover on foot, on horseback, by bicycle along the eco-paths or using the ferry boat to cross the river towards Spain. With a welcoming atmosphere, Hotel Porta do Sol is the ideal retreat for families and couples looking for moments together.

The hotel also has a restaurant, what is the gastronomic offer?

The Espelho D’Água Restaurant undoubtedly translates our essence, as it reflects all the transparency of the two techniques with a panoramic view over the mouth of the River Minho. We highlight the irresistible flavors of codfish or loaf à Porta do Sol, in the à la carte service, welcoming Mediterranean flavors and traditional Portuguese cuisine. On Saturdays, I highlight our special buffets consisting of simple and mixed salads, hot and cold starters, two main courses and a varied dessert buffet.

Well-being is another aspect, what experiences does the SPA have to offer?

The Candle SPA includes a hot water relaxation circuit, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, a wellness area and two massage rooms in order to provide our customers with a true sense of well-being. With oriental inspirations in its spaces, the encounter with the identity of Alto Minho is done through our signature massage, which is highlighted by products linked to the sea and the mountains in a perfect combination.

What kind of events do you organise?

Hotel Porta do Sol is an excellent option for combining work meetings and free time. We have multipurpose and easily adaptable spaces that make it possible to hold weddings, baptisms, communions, bachelorette and bachelor parties, meetings, conferences, congresses, workshops, exhibitions, among other events, with a set of solutions to support their organization.

What have you planned in terms of projects and perspectives for the future?

Following our works to expand 13 more rooms, including our premium suites, we remain attentive to the needs of our customers and in October we will present our new restaurant menu by Chef Ruben Gregório, inaugurate the first SPA Kids in the region and expand our range of treatments and services with the creation of a Scottish bath.
